Fire did extensive damage to a two-story home at 108 Third St. on Tuesday morning in Waterford. Several fire companies from southern Saratoga County and Boght from the town of Colonie responded to the scene of the 8:30 a.m. blaze. One person had to be rescued from the second floor of the building.

The blaze started at 108 Third St. around 8:15 a.m. When fire crews arrived, there was heavy fire in the rear part of the second floor but it did not take long to put it out, said Fire Chief Jason Rocque.

“The fire was controlled in about a half-hour to 45 minutes,” he said.

There was heavy damage on the roof and second floor. The structure has not yet been deemed a total loss but Rocque said it was not habitable.

The village fire department received mutual aid from Clifton Park Fire Department, Round Lake Fire Department, Halfmoon-Waterford Fire Department, Bought Fire Department and West Crescent Fire Department. Ambulances from John Ahern, from Mechanicville and Clifton Park were also on the scene.

Officials from Saratoga County and the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control were at the scene and an investigation is pending.

No firefighters were injured, said Rocque.

The affected structure was a one-family, two-story house across from the Waterford Public Library
